CAPTAINS BRIEF AUTUMN 2010

PLANET SPORTS 2010

CAPTAINS BRIEF

Autumn League 2010

This season Planet Sports will run competitive leagues based on a double round robin, semis and finals.  Teams will play each other twice.

League Dates

Grading starts Monday February 1st 2010

League starts Monday March 1st and finishes week commencing Monday 12th of July 2010

Team numbers in each grade will be limited, where possible to,

Netball (10)

Cricket (8)

Football (8).

Each team will be graded to ensure, as much as possible, close games.

The competitive leagues are designed for those teams who are serious about their participation.

Draws will be compiled, in advance & where possible for the season.

For leagues, with uneven numbers, teams will need to play “double headers” to make the draw work effectively.

Social Leagues:

Planet social leagues will cater for those teams playing for fitness and fun and also those teams joining mid league

Draws for the social leagues will be prepared weekly.

Teams will be graded and given a handicap to keep the games competitive.

New teams will be allowed to join the social league at any stage.

Team Debts
Teams carrying a debt will not be eligible for competition points even if the current game fee is paid in full.
It is the CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITY to ensure full game payments are being made by all team members.
Defaults - No Shows and Byes Competition and Social Leagues

Game Day Defaults and or No Shows
Teams will incur a double match fee (theirs and the opposition) and 5 points will be removed from their points table.

Pre notified default (3 working days)
Teams will still be liable for their match fee.
The competition round will be rescheduled, if possible. In the event the game cannot be played the defaulting team will lose competition points.

Game Rescheduling
Teams that genuinely cannot make a game time must notify the league coordinator at least 7 days in advance. This allows sufficient time for teams and staff to be reorganised.

Competition games will be rescheduled and may involve an alternate night or double header. IF the draw structure, for the league your team is in, allows for a bye then it will be applied.

Social Teams will be given a bye.

Umpires
Our umpires are essential in making the leagues a success. Unfortunately some teams/team members and spectators view umpire abuse as an essential part of the sport. This practice must cease. Many of our umpires work as they enjoy the sport and have become disillusioned with the attitude of the minority.

Captains, we ask that you be responsible for the behaviour of your team. If there are performance issues with the umpire these can be addressed with the umpire coordinator on site (North Shore - Linda) (Waitakere - Alton) not with the umpire directly and certainly not during or after the game.

If a player is ejected from the game for umpire or player abuse he/she will automatically be banned for a period of two weeks. If ejected for a second time the player will be banned for the season.

Polite Reminders
Parents Planet Sports Staff cannot and will not be responsible for unsupervised children. Please ensure that your children are supervised by a responsible adult at all times. This includes keeping them away from the nets, where they could be injured by game activity.
Also please can you make all parents aware that, unsupervised children in the centre, is off putting for other players and teams.
