Concise Rules

Important Information and Basic Rules which you need to know when playing
- The competition will consist of approximately sixteen weeks round robin and two weeks of play offs followed by Finals.
- The cost of each game is $50.00
- Prior to the game the Team Captain should:
- Collect the teams game fee and pay this at the counter
- Confirm the teams availability for the following weeks game
- Fill out the team registration card at the counter
- There is is a game fee registration of $50 for all teams.
- If your team cannot play at the time allocated please let us know as soon as possible. If you let us know at least three working days before the game is scheduled we will do our best to reschedule it as soon as possible. If you let us know inside 3 working days then your team will default the scheduled game and you will loose competition points and be required to pay the usual game fee.
- All teams are expected to play the occasional game on Sunday.
- Indoor Soccer games are generally 35 minutes long (four quarters of eight minutes).
- The Results and Points table is updated weekly and is available on the Notice Board and Web Site.
- The rules state that a player can only be registered in one grade per night. For fairness if your team is short on players choose a replacement from the sideline carefully. Choose a player who is at the same level (or less) as the grade you are in.
- Team uniforms are not compulsory. However extra competition points can be gained by having a team uniform (at least matching coloured shirts) by the fifth game competition.
The Team
5 a side (played on a single court)
All mixed teams must have at least one female player.
Substitutes can swap on court at the end of each period or for injury. No team may take the court with fewer 3 players (5 a side).
The Positions
Each team consists o One Goal Keeper and three/five other players. The Goal Keeper can only handle the ball in their own goal circle. The Goal Keeper can take part in general play (i.e. he/she can leave the goal circle).
General Play
A player can kick the ball greater than head-height but not deliberately at another player. A player must not deliberately handle the ball (except the Goal Keeper). A player may not touch the nets whilst in possession of the ball. The Goal Keeper has seven seconds to put the ball back in play once received.
Contact/Obstruction
Players may not: tackle another player from behind or by sliding. They cannot push with their hands or use excessive body force against another player. A player who consistently contacts another player or verbally abuses another player or the umpire will be asked to leave the court for a period of time at the discretion of the umpire.
Free Kicks
All players must be at least 1.5 metres away from the player taking a free kick. A direct free kick (penalty shot at goal) may be awarded for aggressive behaviour.
Stoppages
In general ? the game clock will not stop for injuries/substitutions/blood bin.
On Court
Runners or similar shoes are the best, as is ordinary exercise type clothing. No touch shoes, works boots, bare feet, jeans etc. Fingernails should be cut short before playing or player may wear the gloves provided. Jewellery should be removed. No player is to play under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
